The VicRoads Surveillance Officer Cadetship Program involves rotations through various VicRoads offices across Victoria, providing hands on experience in the surveillance of road and bridge construction and maintenance works.
Our aim is to develop cadets with a range of construction and maintenance skills to be the future Surveillance Officers/Managers in VicRoads.
The Cadetship program is based on the following key areas:
- 6 month rotations across various VicRoads offices throughout Victoria, including mini rotations (1-2 weeks) into specialist departments
- professional and personal development and ongoing learning
- shadowing/mentoring by experienced Surveillance Managers
There are two entry streams:
- Part time (1 year)
: Cadets would be currently completing the Advanced Diploma in Civil Engineering full time whilst working with VicRoads one day per week. Cadets will be with the one Business Area for the whole year and once they complete their studies could commence the full-time program.
- Full-time (up to 2 years): Cadets would have already completed the Advance Diploma in Civil engineering, or have practical road construction/maintenance experience. They will undertake 6 monthly rotations, which will be assigned based on the development needs of the cadets. The cadet will undertake relevant training courses and will spend as much time as possible with experienced Surveillance Managers to learn about construction and surveillance and transfer their knowledge. The full-time program will run for 2 years, however after 12 months employment, the cadets will be able to apply for permanent positions within VicRoads.
You must be a citizen or permanent resident of Australia or New Zealand, be willing and able to work in regional Victoria, and hold a current Victorian driver's licence when the program commences in 3 March 2008.
Applications for the 2008 Surveillance Officer Cadetship Program have closed.
