Program Description
You will undertake 6 monthly rotations at VicRoads offices across Victoria, including mini rotations (1-2 weeks) in specialist departments, which will be assigned based on your development needs and business opportunities. These rotations may be in any metropolitan or rural VicRoads office.

You will also undertake relevant training courses and will be mentored by experienced Surveillance Managers.

The full-time program will run for 2 years, starting in March 2010. However after 12 months employment, you may be eligible to apply for permanent positions within VicRoads.

Surveillance Cadets will be paid $41,316 p.a.

Development Opportunities
During the Program, you will experience a wide range of professional and personal development opportunities, and will take part in numerous activities including, but not limited to:

• surveillance and audit of road and bridge construction projects and traffic signal installation;
• participation in the risk management process;
• surveillance of worksite traffic management;
• preparation and management of minor works;
• contract management and administration;
• conducting risk-based field surveillance of assigned works under quality assured contracts;
• managing the resolution of issues on site with contractors; and
• consultation with landowners, service authorities and other relevant stakeholders.

Pre-requisite Requirements
To be eligible for the Program, you must meet the following requirements:

• an Advance Diploma in Civil Engineering, or have practical road construction/ maintenance experience
• citizenship or permanent residency of Australia or New Zealand
• a current driver's licence 
• be willing and able to work in regional Victoria
