Vacation Employment

VicRoads offers summer vacation employment for up to 12 weeks (between November and February each year) to University students and TAFE students.

University Vacation Employment
VicRoads accepts applications from undergraduates currently studying a bachelor degree in the following areas:

    • Civil Engineering
    • Environmental Engineering
    • Geomatic Engineering
    • Geotechnical Engineering
    • Electrical Engineering
    • Construction Management
    • Accounting / Commerce
    • Business
    • Computer Science / Information Technology
    • Statutory and Town Planning


Preference will be given, but not restricted to, students who are currently in their penultimate year of study (e.g., third year of a four year degree).

TAFE Vacation Employment

VicRoads accepts applications from TAFE students who are currently completing the first year of the two-year Advanced Diploma of Engineering Technology (Civil/Structural).


Program Requirements for all Vacation Students
Students willing to work in metropolitan Melbourne offices or rural Victorian offices should apply online.

VicRoads may ask for your consent to check records maintained by Police, the Department of Immigration and Citizenship (DIAC) and VicRoads as a part of the selection process. Information provided to VicRoads will be treated in accordance with our recruitment privacy statement.


Vacation Employment Salary
In 2009/10, vacation students will be paid $31,625 p.a. (however, a productivity increase in our Enterprise Bargaining Agreement will boost the salary to $32,652 p.a. effective December 2009).


Application Dates
Applications for the 2009/10 Vacation Employment Program have now closed.

Students will be able to apply for the 2010/11 Program from July 2010.
