Work experience for secondary school students

Want a taste for what it would be like working at VicRoads? Each year VicRoads offers a number of placements for school-approved secondary school work experience.

Work experience is normally undertaken by students in Year 9 and 10, and takes place during the official school year.

VicRoads work placements will give students the opportunity to experience the relationship between school studies and the world of work, develop a greater awareness of their abilities and help them make appropriate career choices.

VicRoads offers work experience in areas such as:

  • Engineering
  • Finance / Accounting
  • Human Resources
  • Graphic Design
  • Media / Communications
  • Information Technology

VicRoads partners with the student and the secondary school to agree on appropriate work experience.

Students will experience different aspects of work within their area of interest and assist with tasks allocated by their supervisor. The supervisor will set a structured learning plan and provide feedback to the student and school upon completion of the arrangement.

The school must provide the appropriate work experience documentation before placement commences.

Students are encouraged to browse the website to find out what areas they are interested in.
