Information Management Services is responsible for making land information available to VicRoads and the community in many different ways.

A geographic information system (GIS) is a database linking individual libraries of information by location to help customers understand VicRoads information in a spatial context. Information Management Services is responsible for maintaining VicRoads corporate GIS datasets, and for sourcing and processing data received from external agencies. VicRoads uses GIS data provided by a range of organisations, including other State Government departments, local government, utility providers and the general community. GIS data can be collated for a specific location or several locations in either table, graphical or map-base formats.
State-of-the-art GIS and mapping technology ensures efficient and flexible map production techniques to meet customer needs. Information Management Services produces a range of mapping products in both hard copy and electronic format. Examples include the VicRoads Country Street Directory (now available on CD) and the Drivers' Guide to Rural Victoria.
Information Management Services can analyse spatial data from a range of sources to help identify trends, compute statistics or assist planning for major infrastructure projects. Examples include analysing the location of accident blackspots, the prevalence of weed infestations on the roadside or the potential impact of proposed projects on significant vegetation.
Information Management Services manages the development of internet-based maps for a range of purposes. Examples of these include Maps of Declared Roads and Bicycle Facilities Maps on the VicRoads website.
