Managing driver fatigue

The following information bulletins and DVD provide advice about managing fatigue, and information to assist heavy vehicle operators and drivers comply with legal driving hours and working times. It suggests approaches to ensure drivers have suitable rest periods, and also contains a list of organisations that offer fatigue management training.

Transitional Fatigue Management Scheme

The Transitional Fatigue Management Scheme is designed to assist transport operators and drivers to manage fatigue associated with long distance heavy vehicle driving. The following documents provide details about the scheme and the associated Driver Certification Manual.

Driving hours regulations

Working and driving hours are regulated for drivers of heavy vehicles. Heavy vehicle operators now have a range of information and schemes available to assist them to manage this aspect of their operations.

i) Working beyond 100km radius
These bulletins provide information about the driving hours regulations and log book requirements for heavy vehicle drivers working beyond 100km of their home base.
