VicRoads Transport Safety Services (TSS) provides services to the over-dimensional transport industry that include:     

• Escorts for vehicles carrying very large items;
• Surveys of proposed routes; and 
• Inspections of vehicles and loads.

VicRoads has implemented a revised hourly charge-out rate for these services. The charge-out rate, commencing 1 July 2009, is $160 per hour (plus GST). 

The new charge-out rate is to recoup costs associated with providing the service and is in line with other industry charges. In addition, the conditions below will be implemented to ensure the consistent charging of operators for services provided.

1. Minimum call-out time:

• Weekday – two hours;
• Weekends – three hours.

2. Charging to occur from the time of the booking to attend at the pick-up point of the escort, the route survey, or load inspection, until the completion of the service.

3. A cancellation fee applies for notice of cancellation less than 24hrs prior to the service:

• A minimum charge of two hours will be applied on weekdays;
• A minimum charge of three hours will be applied on weekends.
