Motorcycle Learner Permit knowledge test

A motorcycle learner permit knowledge test must be completed in order to obtain a motorcycle learner permit. Applicants who do not hold a car licence or permit must also pass the learner permit road law knowledge test.

Eligibility
You must be at least 18 years of age to sit the motorcycle learner permit knowledge test.

About the motorcycle learner permit knowledge test

  • Currently available as a paper based test only
  • comprises 32 questions
  • pass mark is 25/32
  • based on the Victorian Rider handbook
  • available in English only
  • conducted at VicRoads Customer Service Centres and Accredited Providers 
  • fees may vary between accredited providers and the training required.



Applicants are encouraged to go to an accredited provider so that they receive valuable training as well as testing.

Test results are valid for 12 months. If a motorcycle permit has not been issued within this time a new test is required.
