The Victorian Driver Licence and Learner Permit is a plastic card, the same size as a credit card with the state floral emblem of Victoria (the pink heath) in the background with a stylised hologram of the state crest. This holographic overlay is designed as a security feature to prevent fraud and tampering.
The banners on the licence card are colour coded according to the licence type:
- Blue = Full licence
- Red = Probationary licence
- Magenta = Heavy vehicle licence
- Green = Learner permit (issued before 1 July 2007)
- Yellow = Learner permit (issued on or after 1 July 2007)
The backs of the licences and learner permits show conditions, change of address instructions as well as the driver's responsibilities and a statement regarding the carriage of licence when driving.
