Other changes to traffic conditions
• Widening continues on the M80 Ring Road between Steele Creek and the Calder Freeway. Works are currently taking place in the centre median which includes earthworks and preparing the ground to build pavement (pictured below).
• Widening is progressing on the M80 Ring Road Altona bound between Melrose Drive and Airport Drive (pictured below). Current works include earthworks and asphalt preparation.
• An extra lane has opened for M80 Ring Road Greensborough bound drivers between Steele Creek and Airport Drive. The left lane is dedicated for drivers who wish to exit at Airport Drive. There is also an additional lane under Airport Drive which merges with existing lanes heading towards the Tullamarine Freeway interchange.
• The widening of the M80 Ring Road Altona bound under Airport Drive is ongoing. Works include the removal of earth and preparing the ground for asphalting.• Entry and exit ramps from Airport Drive to the M80 Ring Road are being widened and changed traffic conditions are in place.
• Beams and bridge panels have been placed to close the gap between the M80 Ring Road carriageways for a new flyover ramp connecting Tullamarine Freeway city bound to M80 Ring Road Altona bound. In early June, concrete will be poured to form the bridge decks.
The Melrose Drive / Sharps Road entry ramp to the M80 Ring Road Greensborough bound has been closed to help ease congestion at the M80 Ring Road / Tullamarine Freeway interchange. It will reopen once further upgrade works are completed.
