Tullamarine Freeway under the M80 Ring Road, Tullamarine
• Widening on the left side of the Tullamarine Freeway city bound from north of Carrick Drive to the M80 Ring Road is complete, with traffic moved onto this ramp in late April.
• In the centre of the Tullamarine Freeway under the M80 Ring Road, bridge foundations are under construction for the new flyover ramp connecting the Tullamarine Freeway city bound to the M80 Ring Road Altona bound (pictured below).
M80 Ring Road / Tullamarine Freeway interchange, Tullamarine
• Widening on the left of the M80 Ring Road Greensborough bound over Tullamarine Freeway is complete. Traffic has been moved onto this widened road.
• Work is underway in the middle of the M80 Ring Road at the Tullamarine Freeway interchange to construct the new flyover entry ramp from Tullamarine Freeway city bound to M80 Ring Road Altona bound. Drivers will notice new structures being built for the flyover piers (pictured below). The first series of bridge beams for this ramp have been placed.
• Widening works on the left of the M80 Ring Road Altona bound are progressing (pictured below). A temporary shared user path has been built around the work area and is now open.
• Earthworks have started in Gowanbrae between the estate and the M80 Ring Road to build and landscape five earth mounds. Temporary fencing is being installed and will remain in place until late 2012.
• The exit ramp realignment from M80 Ring Road Greensborough bound to Tullamarine Freeway airport bound is complete. Now that drivers have been moved onto the realigned ramp, the widening of the M80 Ring Road between Melrose Drive and the Tullamarine Freeway is underway.
• Construction of the acrylic panel noise wall is continuing to complete the remaining section of the new noise wall along the exit ramp from the Tullamarine Freeway city bound to the M80 Ring Road Greensborough bound.
• The entry ramp from Melrose Drive and Sharps Road to the M80 Ring Road Greensborough bound has been closed to help ease current congestion at the M80 Ring Road / Tullamarine Freeway interchange. It will reopen once further upgrade works are completed.
• Traffic lights are in place on the entry ramp from Tullamarine Freeway city bound to M80 Ring Road Altona bound. This allows construction vehicles to merge with traffic on the ramp safely. Vehicles are encouraged to proceed with caution.
