Pedestrian and bicycle path users (Shared User Path, SUP) should take note of the below information and follow detours where signed.

Calder Freeway to Melrose Drive

    • No impacts to shared user path
Tullamarine Freeway to Pascoe Vale Road
    • The shared user path at the Moonee Ponds Creek / Jacana Wetlands is closed to pedestrians and cyclists. A detour route is in place. Download map highlighting the alignment [PDF, 233KB].  We ask all cyclists using the path to please slow down or dismount when approaching steep slopes
    • From Monday 16 January work will start north of the existing construction site, west of Moonee Ponds Creek, to increase water storage in the event of a flood. Access along the shared user path will be maintained. Some vehicles may occasionally access the site via the shared user path and staff will be onsite to give priority to pedestrians and cyclists.
    • Two vehicle access tracks will cross the shared user path north and south of the Katrina Drive Pedestrian Bridge. Staff will be onsite to give priority to pedestrians and cyclists.
    • A construction site has been set up on the left of the M80 Ring Road, Altona bound.  Works are taking place near the shared user path that runs from Moonee Ponds Creek to Gowanbrae. The path will be narrow in some areas and vehicles may access the site via the shared user path.
    • Fencing and concrete barriers have been installed next to the shared user path south of M80 Ring Road Altona bound at Gowanbrae. We encourage users to slow down, dismount and walk through this section of path.
    • The shared user path from Bush Mews to Coventry Street, Gowanbrae will be closed until mid-2012. Download the detour map [JPEG, 61KB]
Pascoe Vale Road to Sydney Road
        • The Ophir Street pedestrian bridge is now closed to the public. The bridge will be dismantled and removed on Sunday 27 May. To do this safely the M80 Ring Road will be CLOSED in both directions between Pascoe Vale and Sydney Road for a 24 hour period. See Major closures and detours for more information.   The bridge will be reconstructed over the next six months to accommodate the extra lanes being built on the M80 Ring Road. Pedestrians and cyclists are detoured via the path along Merlynston Creek path.
        • Over the next few months there will be changed conditions to the footpaths on both sides of Sydney Road between the M80 Ring Road interchange and Thompsons Street as works progress with the road widening. Signed pedestrians detours will be available.
        • Works have started to widen the M80 Ring Road Altona bound between Sydney Road and Merlynston Creek. For public safety, the shared user path at this location is temporarily closed until late-2012. Public entry to this area is no longer permitted as it a construction site. Path users are advised to find an alternate route or follow the signed detour. Download detour map [PDF,135KB]
        • Upgrade works have started on the south eastern side of the M80 Ring Road / Sydney Road interchange in Fawkner. To ensure the safety of path users during construction, a small section of the shared user path between Sydney Road and Kathryn Street pedestrian bridge is temporarily closed until mid-2012. A short detour route is available via Hedley Street and Eva Court. Access to the pedestrian bridge will still be available.
        • Works may take place near the shared user path that runs from Merlynston Creek to Sydney Road and vehicles may at times use the SUP to access the site. Spotters will be on site to assist pedestrians and cyclists when required.
Ballarat Road (Western Highway) to Furlong Road
        • A temporary Shared User Path detour will be in place at Western Highway (under the M80 Ring Road bridge) between March 2011 and December 2012. This Shared User Path forms part of the Western Ring Road Trail. Download detour map [PDF, 1.89MB]
        • The Shared User Path between Jones Creek and Ballarat Road will be closed between late July 2011 and December 2012. A temporary Shared User Path detour will be in place. Download detour map
        • A temporary bicycle path diversion will be in place at St Albans Road (under the M80 Ring Road) between March 2011 and December 2012. Cyclists and pedestrians are advised that gates have been installed on the path and a traffic management person will operate the gates when trucks enter and exit the site. Delays will be minimal. • A temporary Shared User Path detour will be in place at the M80 Ring Road/Furlong Road interchange from early March 2012 to late June 2012. This is due to the temporary closure of the path over St Albans Road. While the path between Furlong Road and St Albans Road is open for use, the detour from Furlong Road to Pimelea Terrace is the safest route. Edgars Road to Plenty Road
    • The footpath on High Street under the M80 Ring Road has been closed on one side. Pedestrians should cross at the traffic lights at Austarc Avenue and Spring Street. Cyclists should dismount before crossing if using the footpath to pass through the area.
