As part of the M80 Ring Road works between Western Highway and Furlong Road, drivers can expect changed traffic conditions between south of Tilburn Road and Furlong Road with a reduced speed limit of 80km/h in place at all times.
Concrete barriers have been installed on the M80 Ring Road between Furlong Road and Ballarat Road (Western Highway) and Ballarat Road (Western Highway) and Tilburn Road (Altona bound) and between Ballarat Road (Western Highway) and St Albans Road (Greensborough bound).
The noise wall which extended from Western Highway to Tilburn Road (Altona bound) has been removed to allow for concrete barrier installation. This is to provide workers with adequate room to safely work alongside traffic and to provide necessary space for construction of additional lanes. A temporary noise barrier has been installed and will remain in place until approximately mid 2012, after which a new permanent noise wall will be constructed.
Preparation for the new road surface on the Altona bound side of the M80 Ring Road between Tilburn Road and Western Highway has begun.
Topsoil has been removed and excavation works are underway on both sides of the M80 Ring Road, between Jones Creek and St Albans Road bridge (Greensborough bound). Environmental protection measures are in place for stormwater treatment during construction.
Beam installtion over Western Highway has commenced with deck construction to follow shortly after.
Bridge beams for the outer widening (Altona bound) were installed in mid January. Deck construction has started with barrier installation and strengthening works to follow shortly after.
Precast concrete panels have been placed on top of the steel bridge beams and the new bridge deck has been built. Barriers will be installed along the edge of the new bridge in early 2012.
Deck widening and barrier installation is complete and painting of barriers has started. Bridge railing has been installed and the catch decks over the rail line are being removed with strengthening works to follow.
North side - piling works are complete with reinforcement and concrete works currently underway.
South side - piling works are complete with detailed earthworks continuing and reinforcement and concrete works to follow shortly after.
A site compound was established in February 2010 and is located at 27 Carrington Drive, Albion.
Additional site compounds have been established at St Albans Road and at Western Highway (Ballarat Road). This is to enable widening works to the M80 bridges at these locations.
The following changes will be in place on St Albans Road under the M80 Ring Road bridge:
- Lane widths reduced
- Speed reduced to 40km/h in both directions at all times
The following changes will be in place on Ballarat Road / Western Highway at the M80 Ring Road interchange:

Speed reduced to 60km/h in both directions at all times
The following changes will be in place at Tilburn Road under the M80 RIng Road bridge:

Two bus stops located under the M80 Ring Road bridge on Western Highway (Ballarat Road) have temporarily closed until December 2012. This is to enable works on the M80 Ring Road bridge to continue. The bus stops are situated on the north side and south side which is the access point to the Leighton Contractor's site compound.
