Austroads
The Austroads Guides have recently changed, with Victoria adopting the new guidelines on 30 June 2010. As of this date, Austroads Part 14 Bicycles is no longer applicable.

In the new Austroads guides, bicycle information is spread across all the guides, where relevant to the topic. This is different from previous guides where most information was collated into Part 14.

To purchase copies of the new guides visit Austroads.

Austroads guides are arranged into several series. The most relevant guides for cycling are listed below:

Guide to Road Design

  • Part 2:   Design Considerations
  • Part 4:   Intersections and Crossings
  • Part 6A: Pedestrian and Cyclist Paths
  • Part 6B: Roadside Environment

Guide to Traffic Management

  • Part 4: Network Management
  • Part 5: Road Management
  • Part 6: Intersections, Interchanged and Crossings
  • Part 7: Traffic Management in Activity Centres

Cycle Notes
Cycle Notes is a series of information bulletins on design standards for cycling infrastructure. Though much of this information is now contained within the new Austroads guides, these bulletins provide additional advice and information.
