The following information bulletin provides the maximum dimensions of vehicles transporting gliders.
Details are described in the Victoria Government Gazette - Special No. 12 - 6 January 2010.
Subject to the following conditions:
- The width of the load-carrying area, or body, of the trailer does not exceed 2.0 metres; and
- The trailer is used only to transport a glider, together with glider accessories associated with gliding, and ballast to maintain a positive downward force on the towing vehicle’s trailer coupling, or for empty travel; and
- The trailer exerts a positive downward force on the towing vehicle’s trailer coupling; and
- The registered operator of the motor vehicle towing the trailer ensures that the combination can be safely operated on its intended routes; and
- the rear overhang of the trailer does not exceed 5.0 metres
the trailer may exceed the dimension limit for rear overhang.
