Tow truck drivers and operators are regulated by the Accident Towing Services Act 2007 and the Accident Towing Services Regulations 2008.  

Accident towing is regulated to ensure that people operating in the industry provide the level of service and care needed by crash victims, and to ensure that crash scenes are cleared promptly and professionally to reduce traffic congestion.
