Strategic Directions

VicRoads Strategic Directions 2008–2010 has been prepared in response to the changing needs of our customers and stakeholders. Arising from VicRoads core role of managing the Victorian arterial road network, the document identifies the following six strategic directions with outcomes and objectives for each.

  • Tackling congestion and accessibility
  • Improving road safety
  • Improving asset management
  • Making information more reliable and accessible
  • Improving customer service and community engagement
  • Developing organisational capability.

These directions will help VicRoads focus on delivering the Victorian Government’s transport priorities. Specific strategies and actions to address the objectives will be contained in business area plans and core business programs which are developed annually.

VicRoads developed its strategic directions document after considering feedback from a range of stakeholders including advisory councils, local and state government partners and more than 100 managers and staff from all parts of VicRoads.

VicRoads will review the document annually to ensure that it is responsive to changes in the external and internal environment.
