Introduction to Registration

Registering your vehicle makes sure it can be identified if it goes missing or is in an accident and that it meets necessary safety and environmental standards.

Pay your registration
It is your responsibility to make sure your registration is current. You can renew your registration online. For other ways to pay, view our renewing registration page.

Transferring a vehicle
When a vehicle changes hands, VicRoads needs to be contacted.  It is up to the new buyer of the vehicle to tell us within 14 days. Find out more about buying or selling a vehicle and how to transfer registration.
