At your vehicle registration appointment you will need to bring an Evidence of identity document, a proof of ownership document and a completed registration application form.
On the day you register the vehicle you need to bring your current Victorian driver licence/permit. If you cannot provide this you will need to bring original evidence of identity documents with your signature on at least one document.
You need to provide:

one primary evidence document (eg. Australian birth certificate or current passport)

one secondary evidence document (eg. Medicare card, credit card, student identity card, bank statement)

evidence of residence (if not indicated in the primary or secondary documents).
If your vehicle is to be registered in the name of your spouse/domestic partner you must provide your original marriage certificate or statutory declarations from both parties declaring your domestic relationship.

A roadworthy certificate may be required. You will be advised when you make your booking.
You will need to provide a completed registration application form. This form [PFD, 38KB] can be printed as a PDF or can be picked up at a VicRoads Customer Service Centre.
You will need to pay the following fees to register your vehicle:

You will need to hand in your old number plates.

You will receive new number plates at the appointment.

Following registration, the number plates need to be attached to the vehicle before it can be driven.

New number plate screws are not provided so please keep the screws from the previous plate.

Once you are registered and have your number plates you can send your issued receipt form to a VicRoads Customer Centre interstate to claim a refund for any unused portion of your registration from a state other than Victoria.
