If you are moving to Victoria permanently, your vehicle needs to be registered here. You will also need to change your interstate or New Zealand licence over to a Victorian licence after living in Victoria for more than three months.
To register your interstate vehicle in Victoria, call us on 13 11 71 (Mon-Fri 8.30am - 5pm, Sat 8.30am - 2pm) with your credit card ready (Visa or Mastercard) and the following information:
- the VIN and engine number of your vehicle
- your number plates
- your current licence number.
We will organise a time for you to visit your local VicRoads Customer Service Centre and register your vehicle.
For more information about registering your vehicle and what to bring to your appointment see light vehicle registration

Please note: From 1 January 2011, when new vehicles are first registered in Victoria, they must be fitted with electronic stability control (ESC). If you are moving to Victoria this requirement may affect you.
For more information about electronic stability control and transferring your vehicle registration to Victoria, see electronic stability control for interstate vehicles. |
