Special Interest Plates

VicRoads offers a wide variety of Special Interest Number Plates. Special Interest plates include such plates as 'Thoroughbred Country', 'Regional Plates', 'Aboriginal Australia' plates and many more. View more detailed information about each Special Interest plate by selecting one of the links below. 

  Thoroughbred Country number plates were developed to publicise the racing industry, however they are available to the general public.
  Victorian Regional number plates are manufactured at the request of a municipality to publicise a regional area or town. They are available in a range of colours, formats and slogans, unique to plates issued for that region.
  Aboriginal Australia number plates are available for sale through Dreamtime Kullilla-Art.
  Harness Racing number plates are available for sale through Camora Dell Pty Ltd.
  Ham Radio number plates can only be issued to registered vehicle operators who hold an amateur radio licence.
  Lions Club number plates have been produced at the request of the Lions Club to identify Lions members and to publicise the Lions Club.
  Rotary Club plates have been produced at the request of the Rotary Club to identify Rotarians and to publicise the Rotary Club.
  FINA World Swimming Championships mascot, “Penny the Little Penguin”, number plates can now be ordered to commemorate the Melbourne 2007 FINA World Swimming Championships and to help protect the Little Penguins.
  Melbourne City of Enterprize number plates are sold by the Melbourne Maritime Museum in order to raise funds for the construction of a replica of the sailing ship "Enterprize" (the first ship to sail to the site of Melbourne).
  Victorian Maronite Community Number plates are available for sale through the Maronite community. 

National Servicemen's Association plates are available for sale through the National Servicemen's Association (NSA).

Mountain Cattlemen Association number plates are available for sale through the Mountain Cattlemen Association of Victoria.

  • call VicRoads on 13 11 71 (Mon-Fri 8.30am - 5.00pm, Sat 8.30am - 2.00pm). You can pay by credit card (Visa or Mastercard); OR
  • visit a VicRoads Customer Service Centre. You can pay by cash, cheque, EFTPOS or credit card.
