Slimline plates are available for issue to motor vehicles (except motorcycles) upon request and payment of an additional slimline number plate fee. Slimline plates are narrower than standard issue plates in order to better fit number plate mountings on many vehicles.
Slimline number plates can be ordered for the following type of number plates:
- general issue number plates (eg.normal blue and white plates)
- custom or personalised plates
- black and white number plates
- thoroughbred country number plates
The size of slimline plates is specific to the number of letters and numbers that appear on the plate. For example:
- all six character plates - 372mm x 100mm high
- all five character plates - 315mm long x 100mm high
- all 4 characters or less - 250mm long x 100mm high
To check availability and order plates, you can either:
- call VicRoads on 13 11 71 (Mon - Fri 8.30am - 5.00pm, Sat 8.30am - 2.00pm). You can pay by credit card (Visa or Mastercard); OR
- visit a VicRoads Customer Service Centre. You can pay by cash, cheque, EFTPOS or credit card
