The registered operator of a vehicle must attach the registration label to the vehicle immediately on payment/receipt. It is an offence to use a vehicle or trailer without having a current registration label fitted.
You can buy a replacement registration label/certificate:
- online
- by calling VicRoads on 13 11 71 (Mon-Fri 8.30am - 5.00pm, Sat 8.30am - 2.00pm). You can pay by credit card (Visa or Mastercard); OR
- by visiting a VicRoads Customer Service Centre. You can pay by cash, cheque, EFTPOS or credit card.
When requesting a replacement registration label/certificate you will need to provide the following information:
- vehicle registration plate number
- name and address of the registered operator
- your current photographic driver licence if attending a VicRoads Customer Service Centre. If you do not provide evidence of identity the replacement registration label/certificate will be mailed to the registered operator of the vehicle.

To act on behalf of an individual or an incorporated company, the #agent must provide a original letter of authority

Replacement label/certificate - $14.20
A replacement registration label/certificate may be issued free of charge if:
- the label does not stick or has faded – you must bring the label to a VicRoads Customer Service Centre
- there has been a change of vehicle details (eg change of engine etc)
- the renewal notice has not been received and VicRoads has record of the notice being returned
- the windscreen has been replaced – a receipt for the new windscreen must be provided
- the vehicle has been transferred to a new owner and the renewal was sent to the previous owner.
