You can act on behalf of a person or company who is unable to visit a VicRoads office. To do this, you need a letter of authority.
These activities can not be done on behalf of someone else:
- take a test
- buy a work diary
- have a photo taken
You must provide:
- your own photo licence or original evidence of identity documents
- the photo licence or original evidence of identity documents of the person you are acting on behalf of
- an original letter of authority from the person you are acting for. It should include the following information:
- their full name and address
- their driver licence number
- their signature
- name of person acting on their behalf
- list of activities that can be performed on their behalf (eg. renew registration)
Where the vehicle is to be registered to a private person, your current photo licence or original primary and secondary evidence of identity documents must be provided for yourself. Your agent must also provide their current photo licence* or provide original primary and secondary evidence of identity documents.
Please note: VicRoads will not accept photocopies of photo licences or evidence of identity documents.
You must provide:

- an original letter of authority from the company director. It should include the following information:
full company name and address on letterhead
Australian Company Number (ACN) or Certificate of Incorporation
the vehicle/s registration number (if known) and vehicle make and type
authorising person's name and signature and a statement that they are authorised to appoint someone to act on behalf of the company
name of person acting on behalf of the company
list of activities that can be performed on behalf of the company (eg. renew registration)
