Bus priority works on Doncaster Road, from Hender Street to the Park & Ride facility at High Street in Doncaster, have been completed.
This project was part of the Doncaster Area Rapid Transit (DART) program to improve Manningham’s public transport services and facilities. Passengers travelling on SmartBus Routes 906-908 and other local bus routes will also benefit from these changes.
The bus priority works included:
- changes to the road layout, to enable construction of a dedicated left turn lane into the Park & Ride facility
- upgraded traffic signals at the High Street/Doncaster Road intersection
- a short bus lane on High Street at the intersection with Doncaster Road to provide quicker access to the Park & Ride entrance.

These changes will:
- make access into the Park & Ride safer and easier for buses, vehicles and pedestrians
- reduce delays so that buses can run more reliably to schedule.
At peak times a bus arrives and departs from the Park & Ride facility every two minutes. With approximately 1,100 people boarding buses at peak times the changes will ensure that buses are able to travel more reliably to timetable and passengers experience fewer delays.
We are also looking at ways to improve bus travel times on High Street, Doncaster. Initial investigations into the construction of a bus lane on High Street are underway, and we will be seeking feedback from the local community as options for this ‘second stage’ of changes are developed.
