City Road, Southbank
The new morning peak bus lane and clearway zone on City Road, between Clarendon Street and Queens Bridge Street, will improve bus reliability and travel times. The bus lane and clearway operates from 6.30am – 10am, Monday to Friday on City Road, inbound from Clarendon Street to Queens Bridge Street. Buses have historically experienced delays in the morning peak over this section.

During these hours, the left lane (previously a parking lane) operates as a bus lane and no parking is permitted. At other times it remains available for parking. No changes are planned for the south side of the road. The bus lane signs include ‘bicycles permitted’, and cyclists may ride in the lane.

City Road, South Melbourne 
Bus reliability and travel times during the morning peak will also be improved by provision of easier access for buses to stop at the corner of City Road and Montague Street (citybound) in South Melbourne. Earlier bus lanes proposed for this section, between Boundary Street and Montague Street, will not proceed at this stage.
