VicRoads is undertaking a study to review current traffic and safety issues along Point Nepean Road. The study will look at conditions in both the peak holiday period and off peak times.
The aim of the study is to identify and investigate all of the issues in the area and then make recommendations about how to improve conditions.
Possible alternative routes and potential improvements that could be made to improve the flow of traffic and safety of the road network will be investigated as part of this study.
It should be noted that this study is an information gathering exercise that will make recommendations on possible changes.

How was the community involved in the study?
The community was invited to provide feedback to the study in one of the following ways:
• engaging with VicRoads staff on site during January 2012 at Dromana, Rosebud, Rye and Sorrento;
• filling in an online survey
• writing to, emailing or phoning the VicRoads project team.
This stage of the study is now complete with a large number of responses received from the community. We thank you for taking part in the study and providing us with some insight into your local knowledge. The information collected is now being reviewed and collated.
What progress has been made?
VicRoads is continuing to collect information about current conditions in the study area. In the past few months you may have noticed traffic counting devices on a number of roads. This data is now being collated and analysed. Further data will be collected during this year.
When will the study be complete?
The study will be completed in mid 2013. Once a report has been finalised, taking into account all of the information collected, it will be presented to the Government for consideration.
