In 2011 VicRoads and the City of Greater Bendigo developed a draft strategy for Bendigo’s transportation network. The strategy, known as the Bendigo Road Transport Strategy, was created to help guide the future development of Bendigo’s road network for the next 20 years.

The development of this strategy built on previous similar studies dating back to 1993, including the Bendigo 2020 Transportation Study (1993).

During mid 2011 the Bendigo community were invited to share their views on the draft Bendigo Road Transport Strategy.

The outcome from this community input was the resolution by the City of Greater Bendigo to undertake further investigations into a sustainable whole of transport solution, known as Intergrated Transport and Land Use Strategy.

VicRoads is continuing to work closely with the City of Greater Bendigo, the Department of Transport, Public Transport Victoria and community stakeholders to develop this shared transportation strategy.
