Please note: From 9 November 2009 there will be changes to the road safety rules. For more information visit New rules for using child restraints and booster seats.

The Minister for Roads and Ports, Mr Tim Pallas launched this new resource on 24 April 2007 to help educate parents about the proper use of child restraints.

The Multi-lingual Guide to Child Restraints provides information about:

  • infant restraints
  • child car seats
  • booster seats
  • child harnesses
  • adult lap/sash seat belts

The Multi-lingual Guide to Child Restraints has been developed in DVD format for use by Maternal and Child Health Nurses, Migrant Resource Centres, municipal ethnic liaison officers and other community agencies that work with immigrant families with young children.

If you conduct small group sessions with parents and carers of young children on health and safety issues, you can obtain a DVD free of charge from VicRoads Bookshop.
