Designing local roads for ultra low floor buses

Victoria's passenger bus fleet is being progressively replaced with Ultra Low Floor (ULF) buses over the next 20 years to meet the requirements of the Commonwealth Disability Discrimination Act 1992.

It is important that all bus routes provide a high level of service, comfort and safety for all bus passengers. This includes routes serviced by ULF buses along local roads. VicRoads, in consultation with the Department of Transport and other organisations, has produced a brochure to assist local government and others in the design of local roads for ULF buses.

The brochure provides guidelines for designing traffic management treatments to meet the needs of ULF buses on local roads.
