VicRoads provides a broad range of information to help road users make safe and efficient use of Victoria's road system. During winter this includes detailed information on access roads to and from the Victorian snowfields.
Information is available via a number of methods, including:
The Drive Time system, developed by VicRoads, is being installed progressively on all metropolitan freeways. It provides road users with information about travel times and traffic conditions via computerised signs. It also enables the Traffic Management Centre staff to provide prompt advice to drivers when a serious incident occurs, by using the variable message signs located along the freeways.
Drive Time trip information signs tell drivers how long it will take them to reach various freeway exits. As well as providing estimated travel times, a color-coded indicator advises where the traffic is light (green), medium (yellow), or heavy (red).
Information including freeway travel times, signal faults, traffic conditions and events affecting traffic, can be accessed on VicRoads Web site.
Current and future works, and events from the Roadworks Bulletin are also listed.
Many drivers rely on the media, particularly radio, for traffic information. The media is in daily contact with the VicRoads Traffic Management Centre to obtain information for their morning and afternoon traffic bulletins, and to seek background on any major incidents.

VicRoads publishes a weekly Roadworks Bulletin advising of works and other events affecting traffic on Victoria's roads.
The Bulletin includes VicRoads works and other relevant activities notified by Councils and service authorities. Special events that are likely to affect traffic such as street festivals and fun runs are also listed, if organisers provide advice.
To have works or events listed, or to receive a facsimile or email copy of the weekly bulletin, contact the VicRoads Roadworks Bulletin Editor at motbul@roads.vic.gov.au
