Fitzgerald Road Duplication

Project Overview
Fitzgerald Road is an important freight route in Melbourne’s west that services the rapidly expanding Laverton North industrial and commercial precinct. The $11.5 million Fitzgerald Road Duplication Project was funded by the State Government. The duplication works were carried out along a 1.8 km section between Kororoit Creek Road, Laverton and Dohertys Road, Laverton North, increasing capacity to two lanes in each direction.

When this project was announced in 2002 as part of the Statewide Blackspot Program, it had a budget of $14.3 million. Due to careful project management by VicRoads, the project was able to be delivered under budget for $11.5 million.
