Traffic Impacts
As part of the project scope, VicRoads advises that the median opening on the Hume Highway opposite Malcolm Street, Kalkallo, is now closed.

This treatment continues the upgrade of the Hume Highway to freeway standard, where median openings are designed for emmergency use only.

As a result:

  • Left turns to and from Malcolm Street will only be permitted
  • Northbound drivers who currently turn right from the Hume Highway into Malcolm Street will be able to take the new Donnybrook Road exit and access Malcolm Street via Mitchell Street
  • Drivers who currently turn out of Malcolm Street to travel northbound will be able to access the Hume Highway via Mitchell Street and the new Donnybrook Road overpass bridge.

VicRoads advises drivers to observe the changed traffic conditions and thanks the local community for their co-operation and patience during construction of the project and for their support and assistance in achieving an outstanding outcome.
