The Dingley Arterial will be a new four-lane road extending 3.5km from Springvale Road to Perry Road in Keysborough. It will be built along the existing land reservation, which has been in place for many years.
When opened in 2013, it will eliminate a missing link in the arterial road network between Westall Road and the Dandenong Bypass, and will complete a continuous 11km direct route from the South Gippsland Highway, Dandenong South to Heatherton Road, Springvale.
The new road will carry up to 35,000 vehicles a day and will ease congestion on Cheltenham Road and Springvale Road.
The $74.6 million project is funded by the State Government as a priority project identified in the Victorian Transport Plan.

Construction will start in late 2010 with the project scheduled for completion in 2013.
The preliminary road design is progressing. We have completed survey and geotechnical investigations, flora and fauna investigations as well as cultural heritage assessments.
VicRoads has completed environmental studies, including flora and fauna surveys and cultural heritage assessments. All works will be undertaken in line with strict guidelines to minimise environmental impacts, and in consultation with Greater Dandenong and Kingston councils.
Project information will be advertised in local newspapers, letter-dropped and regularly updated on this webpage. You don't have to wait until community information sessions to ask questions or have your say. As we're in the planning and design stage of the project, now is the time to comment on the project or ask questions and we welcome your feedback.
Community information sessions in August, September and October at Keysborough provided opportunities to view current plans and speak to project engineers. Go to 'More information and services' to download a copy of the 'Frequently Asked Questions' document that was compiled as a result of valuable feedback gathered so far. Soon we'll distribute a summary of comments/suggestions by residents to ensure we've captured all views.
As we are in the early stages of the project, much of the detail is yet to be finalised. Your feedback will help guide us in planning and designing the new road to best meet community needs and minimise mpacts.
