Narre Warren-Cranbourne Road duplication, Narre Warren

Project overview
A $7.4 million State Government funded project to extend the duplication of Narre Warren-Cranbourne Road south from Centre Road to Pound Road Narre Warren. 

Works commenced in July 2008 with construction completed and all lanes opening in August 2009.  Minor landscaping works will take place in Spring 2009.

G&S Fortunato Group were VicRoads contractors for the Narre Warren-Cranborne Road duplication.

Features

  • Two lanes each way between Centre Road and Pound Road.
  • A shared user path along southbound lanes.
  • Median breaks at Mack Road and Lansell Close, enabling safe right-turn movements onto Narre Warren Cranbourne Road.
  • New lighting between Centre Road and Mack Road and between Lansell Close and Pound Road.

Managing the environment
VicRoads completed flora, fauna and cultural heritage surveys prior to commencing works. Environmental permits were obtained in consultation with stakeholders including the City of Casey, Department of Sustainability and Environment (DSE).

  • A Project Environment Protection Strategy was prepared and implemented during construction.
  • Landscaping designs have included revegetation of the road reserve, with offset plantings undertaken to satisfy native vegetation requirements.

VicRoads thanks residents, businesses, schools and community groups for their feedback received during the construction of the duplication.
