A $36.8 State Government funded project to extend the duplication of the Western Port Highway for 4.2km, south from Cranbourne-Frankston Road to North Road in Langwarrin.

Features

  • Two lanes each way divided by a centre median
  • New roundabouts at North Road and Browns Road.

  • Safer driving conditions particularly at intersections
  • Reduced traffic congestion and delays
  • Better access to and from nearby growth areas

Current progress and traffic impacts
As of June 2009 major works are complete with all lanes now open to traffic. Some minor works including landscaping will continue over the next few months. VicRoads advises motorists to watch for changed traffic conditions while these works are being carried out for the safety of drivers and road crews.

Managing the environment
A Project Environment Protection Strategy (PEPS) was developed for the project to ensure that environmental impacts from the roadworks were minimised.

Involving the community
Residents were kept informed via letter drops, website updates, newspaper advertisements and in person.
