Derrimut Road duplication, Hoppers Crossing

Project overview  
A $14.7 million State Government funded project extending the duplication of Derrimut Road for 1.6 km north from Hogans Road to Sayers Road at Hoppers Crossing.

Features
  • Two lanes in each direction between Hogans Road and Sayers Road
  • New pedestrian signals at the Hogans Road roundabout
  • Off-road shared bike and pedestrian path on the west side of Derrimut Road
  • New footpath on the east side of Derrimut Road
  • New traffic lights at Virgillia Drive and Sycamore Street

Benefits
  • Reduce the potential for crashes along Derrimut Road, in particular at Virgilia Drive and Sycamore Street
  • Encourage walking and cycling with safer access to the Hogans Corner Shopping Centre, Werribee Plaza, St James Primary School and the Grange College
  • Minimise delays for traffic using Derrimut Road
  • Improve freight efficiency with easier access to commercial areas and to the Princes Highway

Current progress and traffic impacts



On Tuesday 26 May 2009, Minister for Roads and Ports Tim Pallas along with the local school kids from The Grange P-12 College switched on the final set of pedestrian lights at the Hogans Road roundabout marking the final completion of the $14.7 million project.

Some minor landscaping works are ongoing and speed limits have been lifted to 80 km/hr.
