The Grieve Parade Duplication is an $8.3 million major infrastructure project funded by the State Government.
The works will duplicate the remaining 1.5 km of the existing road between Kororoit Creek Road and Dohertys Road in Altona North, completing the duplication of Grieve Parade.
Grieve Parade is a major north-south corridor serving major freight routes. It connects to the West Gate Freeway, Western Ring Road, Princes Freeway and Princes Highway to the north, as well as the established industrial area on either side of Kororoit Creek Road to the south.
Construction started: 27 June 2007
Anticipated completion date: Mid 2008
Cost: $8.3 million funded by the State Government
Features of the Grieve Parade Duplication Project include:
- Upgrade to a four-lane divided road
- New traffic signals at Grieve Parade/Taras Avenue intersection
- Upgrading of traffic signals at the following intersections: Grieve Parade/The Gateway, Grieve Parade/Toyota Gate 7, and Grieve Parade/Toyota Gate 4
- Median breaks at various locations along the duplication
- Shared pedestrian and bicycle path on the east side of Grieve Parade
Benefits of the Grieve Parade Duplication Project include:
- Improved travel times (generally, with less peak hour delays)
- Enhanced safety (particularly heavy vehicle movements)
- Better access will be provided to adjoining industrial complexes and will also cater for any future developments
- Improved management of key freight routes to make freight operation more efficient, while reducing their external impacts on other road users
There has been significant consultation undertaken with the community surrounding the Grieve Parade Duplication. Consultation has been undertaken with Management of neighboring industrial complexes, taking into account their operational requirements.
