A system of route numbers has been implemented on direction signs across the State,
making it easier for travellers to navigate along Victoria's rural arterial roads.
Drivers travelling in unfamiliar areas can use the route numbering system to plan their journey and anticipate road conditions, as the letter prefix on the sign indicates the standard of the road, whilst the number identifies the specific route.
Route numbers now appear on all M, A, B and C routes throughout rural Victoria. This Guide shows the route numbers assigned to our major road links between regional cities and towns, as well as information on roadside rest stops and facilities. It will greatly assist tourists and travellers which in turn will assist to boost tourism in regional Victoria.
