Victoria's road safety strategy 2008 – 2017 is designed to keep Victoria at the forefront of Australian and international efforts to reduce road trauma, to deliver further major improvements to our road transport system, and to improve safety for all Victorian road users.

Victoria's Road Safety Action Plan 2011–2012 seeks to strengthen the road safety effort in Victoria, and focus on three key areas:
- Delivering major improvements to regional highways, country roads and bridges
- Targeting irresponsible road users who put the lives of others at risk
- Restoring confidence in speed zones and speed enforcement technology.
