Kindergarten Parents Victoria, in collaboration with the Centre for Excellence in Child and Family Welfare and fka Children’s Services, delivers early childhood road safety education throughout Victoria.
The model is funded and supported by VicRoads. VicRoads continues to play its lead role in early childhood road safety education policy, research and resource development. However, VicRoads regional staff no longer deliver the early childhood road safety education program at the local level.
By working within the early childhood sector VicRoads is well placed to extend the reach and raise the profile of its early childhood road safety education program.
Key activities of Starting Out Safely include:
- early childhood road safety education advocacy
- ThingleToodle education sessions and activities statewide
- professional development for early childhood educators statewide
- child restraint education, including culturally and linguistically diverse communities.
