In Victoria, an accident tow truck allocation system operates, which means that tow trucks are allocated on a roster basis to attend accident sites in the controlled area (metropolitan Melbourne and the Mornington Peninsula) and in the Geelong accident allocation area.  Tow trucks may only attend accident sites in these areas if they have an allocation number. 

There have been a number of queries in recent days in relation to the tow truck allocation system in Victoria.  There has been no change to the accident tow truck allocation system, and no changes are planned.  A contractor continues to operate the Accident Allocation Centre on behalf of VicRoads.
