VicRoads is committed to creating a more diverse and inclusive workforce for its future growth. We want to be a leader in valuing and optimising the contribution and talents of our diverse workforce and creating a fully inclusive culture to support the communities and customers we serve.

Diversity and Inclusion Strategy

VicRoads promotes the inclusion, respect and importance of the differences we all bring to the workplace, including life experiences, socio-economic or educational background, personality, marital status, religious beliefs, family responsibilities, or other difference. Priority Diversity Groups

While there are many diversity groups in the Australian community, VicRoads specifically recognises the additional challenges faced by five groups traditionally marginalised in the workplace. These are known as our priority diversity groups:

  1. Women
  2. Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander Australians
  3. Culturally and linguistically diverse (CALD) people
  4. Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, Trans and Intersex (LGBTI) people
  5. People with disability.

Each of the groups is represented by an internal Employee Network, which is supported by the Diversity & Inclusion team. 

Key Leadership Competency

We embrace diversity and inclusion as a key leadership competency. We want to see inclusive behaviours throughout VicRoads and we actively support our leaders to better understand their role in creating inclusive workplaces. 


We are committed to continuous improvement and provide a range of internal training programs to all staff. These include Unconscious Bias and Inclusive Leadership training, Indigenous Cultural Awareness training, Building Cultural Intelligence training, Disability Confidence training as well as LGBTI Awareness and Ally training.

Workplace Adjustments

VicRoads has recently launched a Workplace Adjustment Policy, which outlines the process for obtaining workplace adjustments.  The policy applies to new and existing staff, as well as prospective employees. We want to remove barriers for people with disability, allow them to work safely and productively, and to enable people of all abilities to compete for employment and promotion opportunities in an equitable manner.
