At VicRoads, our purpose is to deliver social, economic and environmental benefits to communities throughout Victoria by managing the Victorian arterial road network and its use as an integral part of the overall transport system.

VicRoads operates the road network as part of an integrated transport system, to deliver social, economic and environmental benefits for Victorian communities.

Access and Operations

Access and Operations is focused on the operation of the road network to provide safe access for all road users.

Heavy vehicle services - supports heavy vehicle safety and promotes productivity, while mitigating the impact of trucks on urban amenity.

Journey services - ensures safe and reliable journeys and supports public transport operation, with its broad functions including traffic management, incident response and traffic signal operation.

Smart journey systems - supports the Journey Services team through delivery of data driven improvements to systems and infrastructure management.

Road user and vehicle access - promotes safe road user behaviour, vehicle safety, motorcyclists’ safety, while encouraging walking and cycling, and delivering road safety programs with local communities.

Customer and Technology

Customer services -delivers services to the Victorian community to ensure safer journeys for road users.

Information management and technology - provides VicRoads information management needs to provide highly effective services to our customers.

R&L services - focuses on external partner relationships to deliver increased operational capacity and value.

Service strategy and innovation - develops and delivers business improvement initiatives to serve the current and future needs of our customers.

Finance and Risk 

The Finance and Risk division is accountable for financial and business services and risk, assurance and business improvement, commercial, procurement and legal services. 

Investment & Design Services and Commercial Enterprises

Asset services - manages Victoria’s road assets, including bridges, signs, lines, roadsides.

Commercial enterprises  - Generates revenue through commercial projects such as custom plates, Sprayline road services, and international projects.

Commercial roads - oversees contracts for roads operated by the private sector (City Link, East Link, Peninsula Link).

Integration services - develops policies and guidelines for network use and road design that support an integrated transport system.

Pipeline and programs - manages the roads program for network pipeline development, and program monitoring and reporting.

Network design services - provides road design and traffic engineering expertise, with a focus on integrating the Safe System into engineering practices.

Metropolitan Services

VicRoads operate the road network, and deliver road improvement and maintenance projects across the metropolitan Melbourne regions of Metro North West & Metro South East.

People, Culture & Strategy

Focuses on how people work at VicRoads, supporting the people, capabilities and culture needed for success. 

Public Engagement

The Public Engagement division ensures that VicRoads communicates and engages effectively with our customers and the community to understand and deliver the services, products and information that meets their needs. 

Regional Roads Victoria 

Regional Roads Victoria (RRV) is a division of VicRoads focused on providing safer and better roads that support regional communities’ growth and prosperity. RRV manages the roads across its 5 regions; Eastern Victoria, North Eastern Victoria, Northern Victoria, South Western Victoria & Western Victoria.
