Overdimensional escort services & charges
VicRoads Transport Safety Services (TSS) provides services to the over-dimensional transport industry.
These services include:
- escorts for vehicles carrying very large items
- inspections of vehicles and loads.
The charge-out rate for these services is $218.90 per hour (including GST), with a minimum of 2 hours for weekdays and 3 hours for weekends and public holidays.
The charge-out rate is to recoup costs associated with providing the service and is in line with other industry charges. In addition, the conditions below ensure the consistent charging of operators for services provided.
Requesting an escort
If you require an escort please email escorts@roads.vic.gov.au or call 0417 091 454.
Minimum call-out time
Weekday – two hours
Weekends – three hours.
Time of booking to pick up
Charging starts from the time of the booking to attend at the pick-up point of the escort until the completion of the service.
Cancellation fee
A cancellation fee applies for notice of cancellation less than 24 hours prior to the service:
- a minimum charge of two hours will be applied on weekdays
- a minimum charge of three hours will be applied on weekends.
