Owner drivers & forestry contractors

In response to a Victorian Government inquiry into the commercial arrangements affecting owner drivers and forestry contractors, legislation has been introduced to assist owner drivers and forestry contractors to run safe and successful businesses.

On 1 December 2006, the Owner Drivers and Forestry Contractors Act 2005 commenced operation. The Act and its regulations include:

  • the need for hirers to provide an Information Booklet and a Rates and Costs Schedule to owner drivers and forestry contractors
  • an Owner Drivers and Forestry Contractors Code of Practices, and
  • the new dispute resolution services of the Small Business Commissioner.
