Brunswick Street clearway zones

11 April 2017

In partnership with Yarra Trams, we’ve recently installed tow-away signs along Brunswick Street between Alexandra Parade and Freeman Street in Fitzroy.

This section of Brunswick Street has been a tow-away zone for some time but the signs have gone missing.

The newly installed signs will reinforce the current clearway times.

  • 7:30am to 9:00am on the eastern side of Brunswick Street, Monday to Friday
  • 4:30pm to 6:30pm on the western side, Monday to Friday.

This ensures no cars are parked on Brunswick Street during the busiest hours of the day and enables better traffic flow for motorists and public transport.

In accordance with the Road Safety Rules 2009 if a vehicle parks in the tow-away zone during this time, it will incur 3 penalty units. Until 30 June 2017, 1 penalty unit equals $155.46.

The fine for parking in the tow-away zone during the clearway times will be $466.38 plus the additional cost of towing and storing of the car.
