Wells Street access to be temporarily changed for Young Street works

09 June 2017

Access into Wells Street from Young Street in Frankston will be changed for the next month, with road pavement works occurring.

Weather permitting, excavation of the road and concrete pouring will occur from late next week with VicRoads closing vehicle access into and out of Wells Street at Young Street.

VicRoads Project Delivery Manager William Hogarth-Scott said Wells Street itself will still be accessible, just not by vehicles from Young Street.

“People will still be able to drive north along Young Street, but the entry point to Wells Street will be closed to vehicles for us to undertake these pavement works at the intersection for the next month,” Mr Hogarth-Scott said.

“Pedestrian access will be maintained, so for those wishing to visit the shops, we ask them to park nearby and walk into Wells Street or alternatively vehicles can gain access from the Nepean Highway.”

There is a 2 hour free car park at 122 Young Street for visitors to the Frankston CBD to use.

The Young Street Improvements project is creating a safer environment for pedestrians, improved bus operations and better connection with the Frankston Station precinct and surrounding facilities.

The project is an important part of the Frankston Station Precinct Redevelopment project  which will transform the very heart of Frankston and provide for a safe, modern and thriving place of business and activity.
