Western Highway down to one lane between Burrumbeet and Beaufort

03 March 2017

VicRoads advises that the Western Highway between Burrumbeet and Beaufort will undergo road repair works from Monday 6 March, weather permitting.

A 25 kilometre section of highway will be reduced to one lane at various locations in each direction in order to repair pot holes and damaged road.

Keeping all road users and construction crews safe is VicRoads’ highest priority and reduced speed limits will be in place to ensure this.

Repairs will be particularly concentrated around Spring Hill Creek, Mt Emu Creek and Smiths Lane.

The contractor, who is responsible for the costs of the repairs as part of their maintenance obligations, will be implementing long-term solutions to remedy the road defects.

It is expected that the repairs will be completed by early April. Should they all not be finished before winter, VicRoads will continue to monitor the condition of the outstanding sections of road until the weather allows for more permanent repairs to be completed.

All road users are asked to be mindful of changed traffic conditions and we thank them in advance for their patience during the works.

Please call 13 11 70 to report road hazards, and visit the VicTraffic website and app which provides live traffic information about emergency road closures, traffic alerts, freeway travel time and traffic flow across the network.
