Maroondah Highway Black Spur closure 22-24 and 29 October

11 October 2019

Maroondah Highway (Black Spur) will be closed for emergency tree removal works between 7am-5pm on Tuesday 22, Wednesday 23, Thursday 24 and Tuesday 29 October.

To keep the community safe, we need to remove 12 trees that have been identified by an arborist as being at risk of falling. The road needs to be closed as it requires heavy machinery to safely remove the trees.

The road will be closed in both directions between Narbethong and Healesville. Electronic variable message signs will be in place along Maroondah Highway and surrounding roads to advise drivers of the road closure and alternate routes.

We will be monitoring progress during these works and an arborist continues to assess more trees along the Black Spur.

We will keep the community informed as these assessments continue. We will not schedule works for Monday or Friday, given our commitment to support local traders and tourism businesses.

The recommended detour route is via the Melba Highway to Yea, the Goulburn Valley Highway and Maroondah Highway to Alexandra, then down to Narbethong. This detour route is 138km long and the travel time is approximately 100 minutes.

We thank drivers for their patience while we complete these important works.
