Maintenance works on Bay Street and Beach Street

We’re resurfacing sections of Bay Street and Beach Street between the intersection of Bay Street and Beach Street to Bridge Street, Port Melbourne.

 

What we are doing

This work involves asphalting sections of the road, including traffic management at the following locations:

  • at the intersection of Bay Street and Bridge Street (Middle Park bound side of the road)
  • Beach Street to Graham Street (both sides of the road)
  • Little Bay Street to Retreat Place (city bound side of the road)
  • Graham Street to Bridge Street (city bound side of the road)

This maintenance work is necessary to improve the condition of the road’s surface to ensure the future safety and reliability of the road.

When to expect us

Our crews will be working from 20 - 27 May 2019 between 9pm - 5am. 

How will these works impact you?

During these maintenance works, there will be:

  • staged closures of Bay Street and Beach Street 
  • detours supported by on-site traffic management 
  • a speed reduction to ensure the safety of our work crews and motorists
  • medium-high level of noise, vibration and dust from the works.

More information on detours

  • During works at the intersection of Bay Street and Beach Street, there’ll be detours in place for:
    • outbound traffic via Rouse Street and Dow Street
    • city bound traffic via Nott Street and Rouse Street
  • During works between Beach Street and Graham Street, there’ll be detours in place via:
    • Beach Street, Pickles Street, Ingles Street, Williamstown Road and Graham Street
  • During works between Little Bay Street and Retreat Place, there’ll be detours in place via:
    • Beach Street, Pickles Street, Ingles Street, Williamstown Road and Graham Street
  • During works between Graham Street and Bridge Street, there’ll be detours in place via:
    • Graham Street, Williamstown Road, Normanby Road and Montague Street.

Works are also subject to dry weather conditions, and if these conditions do not allow works to be undertaken they may need to be rescheduled.

Plan ahead, look out for extra signage and traffic management crews on site to help direct traffic throughout these works.
